Description

Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, painted in enamels in Chinese famille verte style with birds, plants and insects

Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, moulded and decorated onglaze in red, yellow, green, blue and manganese enamels. Of silver shape with rounded sides, each with rococo scroll work panels in shallow relief, a small panel below the pinched lip spout and three small oval panels on the high waisted oval foot; ribbed scroll handle with leaf terminal and wavy-edged rim. Painted in Chinese famille verte style with a heron and a willow tree, the reverse with a heron and a lotus, surrounded by scattered sprigs and insects; the interior with a border of flowerheads and diaper, and a large central flower spray.
