Sketches
Draughtsman: Harvey, William
Sketchbook with paper over board coverboards. Contains 48 ff. including the first f. which has mostly been cut away. At least four types of paper. It is possible this sketchbook may have been assembled after the drawings were made, as some do not fit the page exactly. There are also a number (f.16 for example) that are stylistically different, and may be by a different hand.
Method of acquisition: Given (1905) by James, Montague Rhodes, Dr
Production date: ? AD 1861 : Several leaves dated as above in graphite then erased, but may be a later addition. Final number in date may in fact be a '7' which is impossible as William Harvey died in 1866. One drawing (f.14) bears a clearly inscribed date of January 10th 1821, which is much more in keeping with the watermarked sheets of '1816'.
