Soft-paste porcelain bowl, with a low relief decoration and painting underglaze in blue.
Soft-paste porcelain bowl, with relief-moulded decoration, and painting underglaze in blue. The circular bowl has rounded sides and stands on a wedge-shaped footring. It is moulded with three bead-edged medallions, each enclosing a painted Chinese landscape. Between each medallion is an upright moulded tapered trellis panel, entwined with flowers. Below the rim is a painted cell diaper border, and in the centre of the inside a single flower spray.
History note: From the Merton Thoms Collection, sold Christie's 11th February 1910, lot 182. Bought by Dr Glaisher for 30gns.
