Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, painted underglaze in blue with Chinese landscapes and flowers.
Soft-paste porcelain sauceboat, moulded, and painted underglaze in blue. The sauceboat has rounded sides, pinched lip spout and strap handle, and stands on an oval foot. Each side is moulded with a leaf and flower-edged cartouche enclosing a Chinese river scene in underglaze blue, a similar medallion below the spout. The interior is painted with a central flower spray, another inside the spout.
History note: This and 6 other sauceboats were sold Christie's 26th May 1910, lot 41. Bought from Mr S. Fenton, 7 gns.
