Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain teapot, cover and stand, painted with sprays of flowers in polychrome enamels.

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain teapot, cover and stand, painted in red, pink, purple, black and green enamels. The teapot is of quatrelobed lozenge shape, imitating contemporary silver, with a facetted spout and strap handle. A circular gallery encloses the slightly domed cover, which is surmounted by a pierced vase-shaped finial. The stand follows the shape of the teapot, with low flared sides and flat, unglazed base. The sides of the teapot are painted in Chinese famille rose export style with scattered floral sprays and sprigs, a floral meander border entwined with a red dotted border on the shoulders, below a black band. The cover and stand are decorated en suite.
