Description

Soft-paste porcelain, slip-cast, with partly dry-edge, painted over speckly lead-glaze in pale green, yellow, dark pink, red, pale reddish-brown, grey, and black enamels. The underside is unglazed and has a small circular ventilation hole. The oval low mound base is decorated with a dark pink and yellow applied flower and two leaves at the front, a flower and three leaves at the back, and one leaf between the ram's feet. It rises up in the centre into a cylindrical support. The ram stands in profile to left, with its right hind leg off the ground, and its head turned to the viewer. Its body and head are decorated with five black and pale reddish-brown areas of wavy fleece, its horns are grey, and its mouth pale red. The support is decorated with a dark pink rose, and an orange flower and leaves.
