Description

Pale buff earthenware, tin-glazed pale cream overall. Painted in mid- and dark blue, green, yellow, and brownish-orange.
Originally circular with wide flat rim and deep curved well.
In the well, the missing central medallion is framed by a band of blue knots on a yellow ground, a wide blue band, darker blue scallops, alternating green and yellow stylized plant motifs, and another blue band. The rim is decorated with short blue radiating strokes on a yellow ground, orange scales outlined in dark blue with a cream c in each scale, and, round the edge, blue scallops on a yellow band. On the back, there are blue outlined leaves each with a central longitudinal vein, crossed in blue on one leaf and dark yellow on the next, and, in the spaces by the rim, green dabs.
