Description

Red granite head of Senusret III, from a royal statue. Damage to the nemes headdress (particularly on the left side), loss of the nose, and much of the back of the head missing. Mounted later onto a modern base.

This style of carving, with downturned mouth, protruding eyes with pouches underneath, and large ears. are characteristic features of representations of Senusret III.
