Description

Fragment of rim of funnel necked jar, with Bes head decoration in blue, black and red paint. The fragment is decorated with a drawing of the god Bes, who plays the pipes. This type of blue painted pottery was popular in Dynasties 18 to 20. The pottery is thought to have originated at Memphis. The examples here are probably from Amarna.
