Clay bowl
Clay handmade bowl, polishe and burnished.
Clay handmade bowl, burnished horizontally on the inside; a red wash has been applied and polished on the outside. The inside is black and the outside is smoke-discoloured. the walls are very thin, measuring 2.0-2.5 mm in thickness. the rim is rilled (shaped to a thin point). Like many vessels from this period, the base is pointed and the bowl is unable to stand on its own. This vessel fits within a series known by archaeologists as A-group, a term that refers to early Nubian pottery. this particular piece is placed at the end of the dating sequence. The pot as some cracks to walls but is otherwise in good condition.
