Description

Stone relief, with uraei (cobras).

Fragment of a stone relief, probably from a doorway or shrine. A row of cobras (uraei) decorate the top and offered protection. the object was excavated and had been re-used in a wall dating to around AD 1528-1811. The relief originally dates to the Ptolemaic or Roman periods and is wholly Egyptian in style.
