Description

Fritware, moulded and incised, coated in a white glaze

Fritware, wheel thrown with a moulded neck and incised body, coated in a white glaze
Shape: cylindrical body, tapering towards a low foot ring at the base and ascending via a carination to a moulded, collared neck with a protruding spout. A strap handle with thumb rest is applied to the neck and body.
Exterior: poorly defined moulded decoration on the neck. Lightly incised scrolling on the shoulder, while on the upper body similar scrolling lines are interspersed with scalloped and curved lines. Glaze terminates unevenly on the foot ring.
Interior: undecorated except for surface glaze.
