Fritware coated in a white glaze painted in lustre
Fritware, wheel thrown and mould made, coated in white glaze painted with lustre.
Shape: bulbous body ascending onto a cylindrical neck and plain rim, sits on a low foot ring. Opposing cheetah handles and angular spouts are attached to the upper body.
Exterior: the rim is painted with a lustre band. On the neck a frieze of hares are reserved on a lustred ground incised with spirals, painted above a lustre inscription. On the body, vertical panels contain either stylised arabesques flanked by birds on a background of lustre scrolls, or further hares reserved in lustre. On the lower body a chain stripe pattern is painted in lustre. Glaze covers the surface to the lower body and foot ring where it terminates unevenly.
Interior: a lustre band continues on the rim, on the neck a calligraphic band is painted in lustre. On the base a rosette with radiating lines is painted in lustre but unglazed. Glaze covers the surface to the upper body where it terminates unevenly.
