Description

White stoneware with pale blue applied reliefs of figures in classical dress, vine leafs and bunches of grapes.

White stoneware with pale blue applied reliefs. Of truncated conical form with scalloped rim, standing on a low foot; reel-shaped cover with scalloped rim, pierced by eight holes, resting inside the rim of the vase. On either side of the vase there are imitation ring and shell handles between which are reliefs: a woman in classical dress, seated playing the harp, flanked by two slight shrubs; a shepherdess in classical dress, seated between two trees, accompanied by a sleeping dog. Above and below there are bands of vine leafs and bunches of grapes. There is a similar band on the cover below the scalloped rim. On the foot, above and below the lower band of simulated beading, repeated on the cover. On the vase there is also a band of small vertical lines.
