Maiolica pharmacy jar, painted in blue, yellow, and manganese with a bust of a young man and 'gothic' foliage.
Earthenware, tin-glazed yellowish-white on the exterior and more thinly on interior showing the body beneath; the base and its outer edge unglazed. The exterior is speckled. Painted in dark blue, greyish-yellow, brownish-yellow, and manganese-purple. The colours are pallid and have run.
Slender waisted albarello. On the front, a bust of a young man wearing a helmet and cuirass faces in profile to left against a brownish-yellow background. Behind him is a contour outline and in front of him, a vertical label inscribed `ANdOIS' or `SIOPNA'. The back is decorated with `gothic' foliage. Above and below are horizontal blue bands of different widths; on the neck, pale manganese Ss between pairs of horizontal blue bands.
