Description

Fritware coated in white, blue or turquoise glaze painted with lustre

Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in pitted and cracked white, blue or turquoise glaze painted with lustre.
Shape: hemispherical bowl with plain rim, sits on a narrow foot ring.
Interior: the rim is painted with a band of lustre. On the body, radiating panel design comprising blue Maltese cross painted with lustre lines and dashes. Between the arms of this cross panels are filled either with turquoise or palmettes reserved in lustre.
Exterior: exterior is coated in a blue glaze, on the upper body an inscription is painted in lustre. Glaze runs unevenly over the foot ring.
