Red dry-bodied stoneware painted in polychrome enamels with floral sprays
Red dry-bodied stoneware, with glazed interior, painted on the outside in turquoise, green, yellow, and shades of pink enamel. The jug has a bulbous ovoid body with a short neck with a pinched spout, and a curved strap handle. Each side is decorated with a spray of Chinese style flowers.
History note: Mr Sharpe's, stall in the Market Place, Cambridge; bought from him for 10s.0d. on 25 April 1925 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
