Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, pale greenish-turquoise, yellow, and ochre with three fruits, foliage, surrounded by yellow and blue concentric circles and blue dashes

Buff earthenware tin-glazed on the front and painted in blue, pale greenish-turquoise, yellow, and ochre; reverse covered with greenish lead-glaze clouded by tin-oxide. Circular with curved sides, standing on a footring. Painted on the front with three round fruits (apples or pomegranates? ) and foliage, surrounded by two narrow blue concentric circles between two wider yellow ones, and an edging of blue dashes.

Notes

History note: According to the Glaisher MS catalogue entry, not in his hand, the dish came from Lord Methuen's sale, Corsham Hall, Wilts. Sold at Christies in September, purchased February 1900’
