Description

Fritware, coated in a white glaze painted in polychrome and gilded

Fritware, wheel thrown, coated in white glaze painted in blue, red-brown, turquoise, and black and gilded.
Shape: hemispherical bowl with collared neck, sits on a slightly flaring foot ring.
Interior: the rim is painted with a blue dentillated pattern. On the neck a blue kufic inscription is surrounded by turquoise leaves and red dots. On the body a mounted horseman wearing a tunic decorated with grey and blue zig zags, a blue hat and carrying a quiver, rides a turquoise stead; features including reins on the horse and belt of the rider are gilded. Below the horse a red-brown dog with blue collar is depicted; around both animals and rider gilded lozenges and red and turquoise dots are painted.
Exterior: on the upper body, contained within two concentric red lines, a black naskhi inscription is painted. Glaze runs over the exterior body, terminating unevenly on the foot ring.
