Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, orange and manganese-purple. The cup has a bulbous body with a wide mouth and loop handle of oval section with an almost flat v-shaped terminal. The front is decorated with a half-figure of Charles II wearing royal robes and crown, flanked by the initials C R and palm-branches. On the left side, are the initials 'IK', and on the right, the date '1677'.
History note: A lady called Buchanan, a relative of Duke of Roxborough; Mr. J.R. Merton/Mewton, Wood & Co., 23 Basnett St, Liverpool, beginning of December, 1927
