Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, orange and manganese-purple with the arms of the Cooks' Company

Buff earthenware tin-glazed and painted in blue, orange and manganese-purple. Circular with a bulbous body, short neck, and two applied handles, rounded on the outside, and scrolling inwards at the top and outwards at the bottom. Painted on one side with the arms of the Cooks' Company. The mantling is coloured in orange and the chevron on the shield in manganese-purple. On the left there is a flowering plant, and on the right a butterfly, and above them respectively, the initials 'EW' and the date '16:88'. On the other side there are two arrangements of flowers and foliage with a butterfly between them on the ground. A narrow wriggly line runs round the neck.
