Buff earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in blue, olive-green, and red. Circular with a narrow sloping rim, deep curved sides and flat centre. In the middle within two narrow blue concentric circles is a rose spray and a thistle with a crown above flanked by the blue initials G and R. Round the rim there is a wide olive-green band flanked by narrow blue bands.
History note: Mr Cobitt (?)'s shop near the station at Ipswich, where bought on 7 October 1922 for £1.10s. 0d. by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
