Pottery: unidentified London pottery
Buff earthenware with slightly greenish tin-glaze, painted in blue, olive-green and manganese-purple. Circular with sloping rim, deep sides, and flat centre. Archer's shape J. The middle is decorated with a floral spray in a cornucopia-shaped container flanked by floral sprays springing from its base, enclosed by two narrow concentric blue circles. The rim is encircled by a border comprising a manganese-purple line, a scalloped blue line, and green dots.
History note: Bought in Soham (Cambs), where still in use, by Mr Morley, a Cambridge dealer, who sold it in 1893 to Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
