Tin-glazed earthenwre painted in blue with floral sprays and lotus blooms
Buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed except for the base, and painted in blue. Octagonal with straight sides, and flat top with a central short cylindrical neck to take a cover, now missing. The top and four sides are decorated with floral sprays on a white ground. Above and below on the sides there is a horizontal line. The canted corners are decorated wth a lotus bloom on a long stem reserved in a ground of tiny circles.
History note: Bought at a shop in Oxford Street, near Mr Fenton's for 7s.0d. in 1904 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
