Production: Unidentified Bristol pottery
Buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed bluish-white except for the underside of the sole and heel, and painted in blue. A high-heeled lady's shoe with a buckle and chains, painted on the upper with sprays of flowers on either side of a central mottled stripe, and on the heel with vertical stripes of blue and watery blue. Under the instep is the inscription 'SOE/1750/1' with four lines of different lengths below.
