Production: Unidentified Pottery
Buff earthenware tin-glazed and painted in blue and manganese-purple. Circular with a sloping rim and shallow well. In in the middle Bacchus, crowned with grapes and holding a bunch is seated astride a barrel with a wine jug behind. On the rim there is a border of fruiting vine.
History note: Bought in Rye about 1900 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher FRS. Trinity College, Cambridge
