Pottery: Brislington Pottery
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, turquoise and yellow with stylized flowers and foliage; reverse lead-glazed
Buff earthenware, the front tin-glazed and painted in blue, turquoise, and yellow; reverse, coated with pale slip and lead-glazed greenish-yellow with radiating stripes. Circular with shallow curved sides and everted rim, standing on a footring, which is pierced by a single suspension hole. The front is decorated with a plant with three highly stylized blue and yellow flowers and pale turquoise stems and leaves, springing from a round bulb, surrounded by one turquoise and two blue concentric circles.
History note: Bought from George’s, a shop in Bristol in September or October 1900 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
