Potter: Ogata, Kenzan (1663-1743)
Slab-built stoneware incense burner of square section with four cut-outs at base, and round aperture at top with a gallery. Decorated with chrysanthemums in blue and gold on the lower half, brown flower patterns on the upper half, chrysanthemums in brown and red on the upper four corners, and plants in green and gold on the top, all on a creamy background. Lid is flat, pierced with round holes of different sizes, glazed green on top with red rings around the holes, and mounted with a grey bird with black bill and tail.
