Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in polychrome with Adam and Eve standing on either side of the Tree of Knowledge

Buff earthenware, tin-glazed on the front and painted in blue, pale bluish-green, a darker green, yellow, and manganese-purple. The reverse is coated with uneven greenish lead-glaze. The front is painted with Adam and Eve on either side of the Tree of Knowledge, walking towards their left. Blue grasses (or a low fence) grow on either side of the tree. The edge is encircled by a purple band and blue dashes; on the back, uneven greenish lead-glaze
