Description

Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue, yellow, and manganese-purple with a Chinese marine landscape

Buff earthenware, tin-glazed bluish-white, rather thinly in places and with one area of body exposed on the back. Painted in blue, green, yellow, and manganese-purple. Circular with a wide rim, shallow sloping sides, and flat centre with recessed base. Painted overall with a Chinese marine landscape with a pagoda on an island at top left, an island with two houses, rocks and a tree at middle right, and another island or the shore with trees and bushes in the foreground at the bottom of the scene.
