Description

Fritware, incised and splashed with blue under a clear glaze

Cream fritware, wheel thrown with lightly incised decoration and splashes of blue paint under a clear crazed and pitted glaze.
Shape: Segmental bowl with flat rim and a low foot ring, cut away on the interior.
Interior: A frieze of lightly incised decoration on the upper body, possibly an Arabic inscription. Four splashes of blue colouring at roughly regular intervals on the upper body. The central roundel is incised with four small scrolls and has a dot of blue colouring.
Exterior: undecorated except for a clear glaze that extends down to lower body.
