Stoneware. Circular, standing on a footring pierced by two suspension holes. the sides rise upwards from the footring in a gentle convex curve and then flare toutwards towards the rim. The upper surface is covered with a thick crackled glaze, greenish where thickest in the middle, and streaked with green and brown round the rim. The underside has a smooth, pinkish-white glaze. The glaze on the upper surface runs over onto the reverse, creating an irregular wavy outline.
History note: Bought from the Exhibition Ceramics, Glass and Batick, held at Kettles Yard, Cambridge 29 March - 15 April, 1981, no. 22.
