Description

Earthenware, moulded and covered with brown lead-glaze, appearing darker where it lies thickly. The hexagonal base has mouldings round the edge. The Virgin, crowned, and wearing a long gown, and a cloak, stands holding a sceptre in her right hand, and in her left arm, the Christ Child who has an orb in his left hand

History note: Madame Gough, 22 rue des Pierres, Bruges, from whom purchased for 25 frances on 12 June 1912 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge
