Description

Orange-red earthenware, moulded in relief, decorated with cream and dark brown slips, and lead-glazed. The left, top, and right sides have a border of stylized flowers on a continuous wavy stem, enclosing four rows of soldiers divided by cream horizontal lines. At the top there are two rows of infantry, each with six soldiers with muskets, and on the viewer's left of them, a sergent with a halberd, a dummer and a fife player; and on the right, a man with a canon. The two lower rows are mounted cavalry troopers riding to the viewer's right, the upper row wearing tricorn hats, and the lower row, tall hats.
