Three-legged slipware bowl and cover with six scrolls and a bird on top, decorated with cream and brown slip, and green and yellow under lead glaze
Earthenware, thrown, with applied modelled decoration in relief, coated with cream slip on the interior of the bowl and underside of the cover and finial, and with brown on the exterior of the bowl and cover, and painted in white, green, and yellow under lead-glaze. The bulbous bowl stands on three small feet with reliefs of foliage above them, and between them, applied twisted volutes. The cover is slightly domed with a wide border, and has on top a handle in the form of six volutes radiating from a shallow dish in which is perched a bird. The areas of brown ground are scattered with small flower heads painted in cream and yellow, and the volutes on the cover are alternately green and yellow.
