Production: unidentified Langnau pottery
Pale brown earthenware decorated externally with marbled slip, and inside with cream slip under lead-glaze
Pale brown earthenware, thrown, decorated outside with marbled brown and cream slip and green, and inside with cream slip, and lead-glazed. The jug stands on a disk base. It has a bulbous lower part, a wide neck with a pinched spout, and an applied strap handle.
History note: Bought somewhere in East Anglia by Mr George Jennings an artist in Walberswick, who sold it to Mr Jolley, an antique dealer in Cambridge; bought on 16 February 1911 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
