Description

Red earthenware coated with cream slip, incised, and painted in brownish-red, blue and green, under lead glaze. On each side is a shield charged with the arms of the Canton of Bern, and on the front, on either side of the spout, the inscription `18 + P + + S + 36' over two doves perching on a bowl.

History note: Purchased in Thun, Switzerland in 1903 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, FRS, Trinity College, Cambridge
