Description

Grey stoneware with applied moulded relief decoration and salt-glaze producing a mottle varigated-brown surface. The bottle stands on a circular turned base. It has a bulbous body, a short incurved cylindrical neck with a cordon round its base and another higher up, where the top of the original strap handle was attached (now replaced by a restoration handle). There is a bearded facemask applied to the front of the neck and shoulder with two pointed leaves with serrated edges on either side of it. Lower down around the widest part of the body there are five circular medallions enclosing similar helmeted heads each surrounded by five pointed leaves with serrated edges
