Description

Fritware painted in polychrome under a colourless glaze

Fritware, probably mould made, painted in red slip, green, blue and black under a colourless glaze
Shape: cylindrical body with a plain rim sits on a low foot ring. A flat angular handle is fixed along the length of the body.
Exterior: below the rim and above the base matching friezes of black cable with red central dot are reserved in blue. On the body, curving saz leaves, painted in blue black and green, are surrounded by floral sprays of red carnations and blue tulips. On the handle black lines and blue leaves are painted. Glaze covers the surface except for the rim of the foot ring.
Interior: surface is glazed but otherwise undecorated.
