Description

Maiolica dish on high foot, painted in blue with an Oriental-style landscape, enclosed by a border of stylised flowers and foliage.

Pale buff earthenware, tin-glazed overall except for the rim of the foot. Painted in blue.
Shape 85. Flat circular dish with slightly upturned edge, standing on a high moulded spreading foot with an angular knop in the stem.
The central medallion contains an Oriental-style landscape with a small temple, a bird, and a rabbit pursued by a spotted hound amid exotic foliage, enclosed by three concentric circles and a wide border of stylised flowers alternating with foliage. Two narrow concentric bands encircle the edge.
