Maiolica pouring vessel with handle and cover, painted in manganese, green and yellow with four quatrefoil reserves containing birds, figures, and buildings in landscapes.
Earthenware, tin-glazed off-white overall. Painted, sponged, or sprayed in manganese, with touches of green and yellow.
The depressed globular body stands on a low foot. It has a short, wide, cylindrical neck, an upward-tilting spout springing from the shoulder, and a handle composed of two rolls of clay crossed over at the apex, with two small scrolls on each side just above the junction with the rim at each end. The slightly convex cover has a flat rim, and rests on a ledge inside the neck of the vessel.
The body is decorated with a manganese ground and four quatrefoil reserves outlined in yellow and manganese, containing birds, figures, and buildings in landscapes mottled in manganese and touched with green and yellow. On the foot there is a manganese band, and on the neck, a continuous spray of manganese scrolling foliage. The handle is mottled with manganese and dappled with yellow. The cover is decorated with three smaller quatrefoil landscape panels reserved in a darker manganese speckled ground. The base is marked in manganese with a falcon over `F'.
