Modeller:

Earthenware, tin-glazed and painted in enamels
Buff earthenware, press-moulded, tin-glazed, and painted in pale blue, dark blue, green, mauve, a little red, yellowish-brown, dark brown, and black enamels. The rectangular base is glazed on its underside, and has a large D-shaped ventilation hole and a circular foot under the figure. The base has a slight mound on top, painted in green and brown. A quarter of its area is occupied by a pale blue stream. The washerwoman kneels beside the stream with a tub and wash board in front of her, and a bar of soap and a bat on the ground to her left. She kneels on both knees, and turns her head towards the viewer, as if interrupted while she is lifting a sheet out of the tub. She has black eyebrows and eyes, rosy cheeks and a red mouth. Her dark brown hair is covered by a white cap with one streamer hanging down over her back, and one pinned up. She wears a low-necked white chemise, and a mauve and dark blue skirt which is tucked up into her waistband. Her feet are bare.
