Description

Fritware painted in polychrome under a colourless glaze

Fritware, probably mould made, painted in red slip, blue, emerald green and black under a colourless glaze
Shape: segmental bowl with a flange rim, sits on a low, wide foot ring
Interior: on the rim a rock wave pattern is painted in blue, black and green. On the body a polychrome floral spray incorporating tulips and carnations clasped by an overlying agrafe motif and surrounding an arabesque.
Exterior: on the body a frieze of leaves and peach-like motifs are painted in blue and green with black outlines. The glaze covers the surface except for the rim of the foot ring.
