Description

Pale buff earthenware, moulded, tin-glazed and painted in blue. The water receptacle is in the form of a half bowl with lightly gadrooned sides, and everted rim, attached to the lower part of the flat back. The back is moulded in relief on the front with the initials IHS below a Cross on an oval panel suported by cherubs terminating in feathers. Above the panel is a suspension hole, and above that a winged cherub's head. The edges of the bowl, and the relief areas of the bowl and back are outlined and filled in with blue. The cherubs have painted crucifixes suspended round their necks, and there is another below the panel.
