Description

Maiolica vase and cover, painted in polychrome with, on the cover, two landscapes with buildings and figures and, on the vase, landscapes with buildings, ships, men fishing and dogs playing.

Pale buff earthenware, tin-glazed overall; the underside of the foot appearing pale beige. Painted in greyish-blue, dark green, yellow, dark yellow, orange, brown, and manganese.

The cover is decorated with two landscapes with buildings and figures, in shaped frames reserved in a blue ground decorated with polychrome flowers and foliage. The rim is blue with a yellow edge and the finial is striped horizontally in blue, yellow, orange and blue. The upper part of the vase is decorated with a continuous landscape with buildings, ships, men fishing and dogs playing.
