Description

Maiolica dish, painted in polychrome with tulip in the centre, surrounded by interlacing trompe l'oeil ribbon and lace and shells.

Dish. Earthenware, tin-glazed overall. Painted in blue, yellow, orange, and brown.
Oval with narrow sloping rim and shallow well, the edge moulded with four shells separated by cusps and scrolls.
In the centre there is a yellow and orange tulip and leaves, surrounded by interlacing trompe l'oeil blue and yellow ribbon and blue lace. The shells are polychrome and there is a blue line running round the edge and yellow scrolls flanking the shells.
