Production: Unidentified Staffordshire Potter
Earthenware dish, slip-coated and slip trailed in dark brown and olive-green with a male head wearing a wig, with leaves above, and on the rim with a border of tulips and leaves
Pale red earthenware, thrown, the front coated with cream slip and slip trailed in dark brown and olive-green before lead-glazing. Circular with a very steeply sloping rim and curved well. The dish is thickly potted and heavy for its size. In the middle is a crudely trailed bewigged man's head with stylized tulips and leaves above and to right and left. On the rim there are nine formal tulips flanked by leaves all pointing outwards. All the motifs have dark brown outlines filled in with olive-green.
