Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue with flowers and insects
Buff earthenware tin-glazed except for part of the base, and painted in blue. The jug has a bulbous body which expands into a low foot at the bottom and narrows at the top into a narrow neck with a projecting lip. The loop handle of D-section is attached about half-way down the neck and has an upward scroll at its lower end. A hinged pewter cover with shell-shaped thumbpiece is attached to the top of the handle. The sides are painted with Oriental lowers, lotus leaves and insects, and with two narrow horizontal bands round the foot and below the mouth. The back of the handle is decorated with horizontal V-shaped stripes.

This jug was acquired as Delft, but was attributed to Frankfurt am Main by Rackham in 1935. It seems likely that Glaisher's attribution to Delft was correct./
