Factory: Göggingen faïence factory
Tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue on each side with an arrangement of Oriental style flowers and foliage
Earthenware, thrown, with applied handles and spout, tin-glazed and painted in blue. The ovoid body has a spreading base, a cylindrical neck with projecting flange a short distance below the mouth, two scrolled upward tilting loop handles and a slanting spout on one side. Both sides are decorated with an arrangement of Oriental style flowers and foliage, and the spout is decorated vertical scrolls flanked by rows of short horizontal lines.
History note: Fielding Collection; sold Puttick & Simpson, 27 January 1922, lot 43; sold to Mr Fenton, 11 New Oxford Street, London, from whom purchased on 8 February 1922 for £2 by Dr J.W.L. Glaisher, Trinity College, Cambridge
