Production: Unknown
Stoneware drinking vessel (kendi) in the form of an elephant with underglaze blue decorations. The glaze is very glossy, and the base is unglazed
The vessel has a tall spreading handle, which is decorated with a prunus tree and bird. The mouth serves as a spout, the eyes are outlined in blue, and there is a cloud collar on the shoulders. A blanket hangs down the elephant's sides and is decorated with a variety of motfis: a thunder pattern, a jui pattern on a scallopped ground, another thunder patter, than a fringe. A small tail on the back is in underglaze blue, as are the trappings on the haunches. The base is slightly conclave.
